⚑Top Priority: The Fun Is In The Experiences

Hello Reader!

I hope you all had an amazing June and are gearing up for a fantastic summer. June was a busy month for me, filled with celebrations, sports, and travel.

First up, I had the joy of attending a couple of birthday celebrations. Celebrating with friends and family reminded me of the importance of setting aside time (and a budget) for these special moments. It's these little celebrations that add so much joy to our lives and strengthen our connections with loved ones.

I also picked up a new hobby this month – Pickleball! It's been a great way to stay active, meet new people, and unwind. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. My husband and I took lesson's via our town's recreation program, and bought rackets off Facebook marketplace. If you have some free time it's a fun, engaging way to incorporate more exercise into your routine without feeling like a chore.

Lastly, I took a girls' trip to Washington, D.C. We went to celebrate our friend who was getting married. It was a wonderful time filled with laughter, sightseeing, and bonding. These trips are a great reminder of the value of experiences over material things. Planning and budgeting for such trips can make them more enjoyable and stress-free. Check out my Instagram post below πŸ‘‡πŸ½ with money saving travel tips.

Perhaps you have children just out of school and are starting camps, or older children that are returning home from University or College, or you're looking forward to an exciting family trip! Summer is short around here so here is hoping 🀞🏽 that you are making the best of it.

What's Coming Up?

July:

It's a little quiet this month. I am going to focusing on recording some NEW episodes to the podcast. I know... I know... you guys are on me. So September I will be back to discussing relevant topics to your money journey, and perhaps it will help you to avoid some of my money mishaps.

If you haven't checked it out. Here is a great episode about Summer Budgeting!

44: Smart Summer Budgeting: Have a Blast without Breaking the Bank

πŸ€” Remember to share your favourite episode with a friend. Or better yet start a "podcast" club, where you discuss the topic of the episode. Great solution if you don't have time to read or be a part of a book club. (You can even invite me to your group) I would be happy to share my thoughts and experiences.

TIP for the month:

Prioritize Experiences Over Things

As the summer heats up, it's easy to get caught up in the excitement of shopping sales or dining out. But this season, why not focus on creating memorable experiences instead of accumulating more stuff and spending additional money?

  1. Plan Budget-Friendly Outings: Look for local events, outdoor concerts, or community festivals that are free or low-cost. These can provide just as much fun as expensive trips and activities.
  2. Host a Potluck BBQ: Instead of splurging on dining out, invite friends and family over for a potluck BBQ. Everyone brings a dish, and you get to enjoy a variety of foods without the hefty restaurant bill.
  3. Explore Nature: Take advantage of the longer days by exploring parks, hiking trails, and beaches. Nature offers a wealth of free entertainment and is a great way to stay active.
  4. DIY Fun at Home: Set up a backyard movie night, have a picnic, or organize a game night. These activities are cost-effective and can be more enjoyable than expensive outings.

The best summer memories often come from spending quality time with loved ones, not from spending a lot of money. By prioritizing experiences, you can enjoy a fulfilling and budget-friendly summer.
